Pakistan Microfinance Network
Developed an anticipatory action framework for drought-prone districts in Sindh (Tharparkar, Umerkot, Dadu), integrating commodity price analysis, food security indicators, and livelihood data. Using literature reviews, focus groups, DIEM datasets, and econometric modeling, it designed price-trigger thresholds and response protocols. This was a research and framework design project aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness, resilience, and early action planning.
International Food Policy Research Institute
The IFPRI–Reenergia Research Project conducted a baseline quantitative survey in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, under CGIAR’s NEXUS Gains Initiative. It collected intra-household and community data on water, energy, food, and environment systems, focusing on gender, livelihoods, and climate resilience. Using translation, CAPI tools, enumerator surveys, and data cleaning, it was a field-based research and data collection exercise.
Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund
The Hunza Valley Micro-ESCO Feasibility Study, conducted under PPAF’s Scalable Off-Grid Energy Partnerships (SOGEP), assessed renewable energy options (hydro, solar, wind) to address Hunza’s acute electricity shortfalls. Using field surveys, FGDs, GIS mapping, and financial analysis, it proposed a community-driven micro-ESCO model and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). The project was a research, feasibility, and design exercise to reduce energy poverty and foster sustainable rural electrification.
The World Bank Group
The World Bank–Reenergia Project developed a toolkit and case study on the disaster–conflict (FCV–DRM) nexus. It reviewed 136 World Bank projects (FY15–20) and conducted case studies in Zimbabwe and Somalia. Using portfolio analysis, stakeholder consultations, and live documentation, it identified lessons on needs assessments, risk management, aid tracking, and implementation models. The project was a research, toolkit design, and policy advisory exercise.
Reenergia and Climate Change Ventures launched the “Pakistan Green Transition Fund (PGTF)”. This fund is dedicated to aiding the Government of Pakistan in fulfilling its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the UNFCCC. With a budget of $100 million, scheduled for launch in 2023-24, we aim to attract investments from both public and private sectors, directing funds towards projects promoting climate-friendly initiatives and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our focus is on “shovel-ready” projects, emphasizing renewable energy, methane capture, and transitions in transport and energy sectors. This partnership is committed to driving innovation and fostering growth in Pakistan’s micro, small, and medium enterprise sector while tackling climate change challenges head-on.
The World Bank Group
This study modelled Pakistan’s transport sector transition, using three pathways for decarbonization: Decarbonizing Passenger Transport; Decarbonizing Freight Transport; and Enabling Zero emission vehicle technologies. The study was performed to have an overview of Pakistan’s existing efforts for transport sector transition, estimating the impacts of steps taken, identifying, and assessing the potential pathways to accelerate decarbonization of transport. The estimations were in the form of projections made up to the year of 2050 and incorporated Pakistan’s socioeconomic profile that influences interventions, existing landscape, and future implications for transport sector decarbonization efforts. The study produced these estimations using modelling techniques for development scenarios where the models captured sectoral disaggregation.
