Developing a Pakistan Small and Medium Enterprise Environment & Performance Index (SEPI)
A first of its kind dynamic tool to track the Environment and Performance of SME using quantitative approach.
Phase 1
Development of the SME Environment and Performance Index (SEPI) for Pakistan, employing a detailed quantitative approach. Phase 1 is focused on procuring secondary performance data for SME profiling, obtaining static data to fill gaps in SME profiles, and compensating for any data shortages. The research and development phase are dedicated to creating the Pakistan SEPI. The process includes identifying key indicators, allocating weightages, and developing the survey tool and analytical approaches using a mixed-method approach.
Phase 2
We will conduct extensive data collection using CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) to gather primary data from a sample of 1,000 SMEs across Pakistan. This phase will capture a diverse range of SME attributes, including size, sector, geographic location, urban or rural setting, age, and particularly gender, to ensure comprehensive representation. To emphasize inclusivity, a dedicated quota for women-led SMEs will be implemented , ensuring that the specific challenges and experiences of these enterprises are reflected in the data. This will provide a robust foundation for accurately assessing the SME landscape in Pakistan. Pakistan Banking Association (PBA) October 2024-Ongoing
