Framework Development for Socio-Economic Impact Assessment (Transportation Projects – CPEC)
Our project devised a detailed framework to assess the socioeconomic impacts of transportation projects within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). By analysing various indicators and district profiles, we highlighted the diverse impacts on neighbouring areas, emphasizing the need for balanced development strategies to address both positive and negative implications.
Our project developed a comprehensive socioeconomic impact assessment framework for transportation projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). By analysing various attributes such as population density, poverty indices, and project locations, we evaluated the direct and indirect impacts on neighbouring districts. Through radar mapping and matrix analysis, we assessed the likelihood and intensity of socioeconomic outcomes, considering factors like education, health, and industrial development. Our findings indicate significant impacts, particularly in underdeveloped districts, with both positive (sectoral growth) and negative (cultural disruption) implications, underscoring the importance of balanced development strategies.
