Muhammad Mohsin Aftab is a senior banking and trade finance specialist with over two decades of experience advising financial institutions across Asia, Africa, and Central Asia. Since 2016, he has served as Senior Consultant with the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) Financial Institutions Group, working with central banks, commercial banks, and corporates on policy reform, structured trade finance, and sustainable finance product development. He has led diagnostic assessments, market sizing studies, and capacity-building engagements for more than 20 banks, including SME, agricultural value chain, and climate-linked finance programmes across markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Pakistan, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kenya, and Morocco. Earlier in his career, Mohsin held senior roles at Habib Bank Limited, Barclays Bank, ABN AMRO (later RBS), and Standard Chartered Bank in Pakistan, where he built and led structured finance and supply chain finance businesses, established financial institutions coverage functions, and structured trade and receivables financing programmes worth tens of millions of dollars for corporate and SME clients. His experience spans risk participation structures, credit guarantees, true-sale and sell-down transactions, balance sheet optimization, and correspondent banking relationships. Mohsin holds an MBA in Finance from Al-Khair University, Pakistan, and is certified in Commercial and Advanced Commercial Lending Skills through Barclays' Credit Skills Development Programme, delivered by the IFS School of Finance, UK.
